International Entertainment Buyers Association Conference

IEBA panel

Back in Nashville for the IEBA’s 53rd annual conference which this year created panels and roundtables specifically for buyers and producers of shows for private, corporate and special events.

I believe the theme running through the event this year was an emphasis on Building Relationships. Too much of the agent/promoter/producer/artist mix is email and text. All stakeholders need to get to know the person they are buying from, selling to, producing for, and promoting is a real person and not just a name on your contact list.

It is my belief that music business relationships are built by:

  • Leading with exceptional service.
  • Being a consultative, educational and informative resource.
  • Trying to offer help before you ask for help.
  • Delivering on promises to build trust and career-lasting integrity.

Bravo to the conference planners that created a schedule with many opportunities for attendees to build new and grow established relationships at various breakouts, meals, and fun entertainment showcases each night.

The Keynote Quote That Rings True

“Behind every successful show, there are unsung heroes off-stage. The contributions of those who labor behind the curtains, out of the spotlight, are the very backbone of our industry,”

We owe the magic of entertainment as much to their dedication and passion as we do to those who stand in the limelight.”
