The return to in-person events began at the New York Hilton with more than two thousand attendees. Opening the show was comedian Tom Papa who had the guests rolling with Covid shutdown stories.
Just as the pandemic begins to fade here in NYC, I am reminded of the saying tragedy + time can equal humor, generally attributed to Mark Twain…well the theory was proven by Tom Papa on this corporate event stage.
Tom was a long time opening act for Jerry Seinfeld and has had numerous HBO and Netflix specials.
For the corporate stage, top comedians “work clean,” meaning no profanity and no disparaging remarks about gender, ethnicity, race or religion. For corporate events, nonprofit galas and many private performances it is imperative that comedians perform in a manner that will not offend their audience, charity patrons or corporate client attendees.
